You're working hard to pave your way Trying to get along and make it through the day You take a break, check the news Everything you see just fills you with the blues There's people screaming all day long How they're right and everybody else is wrong Back and forth, to and fro 'Till it gets to where you can't tell friend from foe And then it happens When the nation's gripped with fear All the super true believers appear Chanting slogans, laying blame Don't you wish they'd just playing that game I wish they'd just stop playing that game Left or right or red or blue Either way, they think they know what's best for you So they tear the world apart While they swear it's your best interest in their heart Do you believe them? When the nation's gripped with fear All the super true believers appear Chanting slogans, laying blame Don't you wish they'd just playing that game I wish they'd just stop playing that game Are you tired of the hating and berating Again and again? If you want things to be great again, listen up my friend 'Cause it's up to us in the end When the nation's gripped with fear All the super true believers appear Chanting slogans, laying blame Don't you wish they'd just playing that game

I Saw Godot 02:32
I saw Godot He was sittin' in a coffee shop Nursin' a king-size latte He didn't seem to wanna stop So everyone who's waiting Will have to wait some more Whaddya know? I saw Godot I saw Godot He was searchin' for a little hope Every single soul he talked to Just took him for a dope So everyone who's waiting Will have to settle in Whaddya know? I saw Godot Everyone I know Is waiting for Godot Waiting for something new Now that I see him The picture's pretty grim 'Cause he is waiting too I saw Godot He was headed for the bar Once he sits down there He isn't goin' very far So everyone who's waiting Can get on with their lives Whaddya know? I saw Godot Whaddya know? I saw Godot

If I Let It 04:21
In the twilight There's a fox who roams a field Thinking of nothing But finding her next meal She doesn't fret about tomorrow She just gets it In a tall tree There's a bird who sings a song He doesn't practice Just sings the whole day long He doesn't care if he's in tune He just gets it I wish that I could just get it Instead I try to force it And then I just regret it Maybe I'm making it Harder than it is If I let it Would I just get it? In a lifetime There is only so much time But some days each minute Feels like an endless climb Why do I fret about tomorrow? I don't get it I wish that I could just get it Instead I try to force it And then I just regret it Maybe I'm making it Harder than it is If I let it Would I just get it? Maybe I'm making it Harder than it is If I let it Would I just . . . get it?

I'm counting to a million Taking my time No hurry or ambition No ladders to climb I'm living in the moment Loving today And if you ask about it Then this is what I say If counting to a million Is a foolish thing to do, so be it 'Cause many things we do in life are like that Though we might not see it I'm counting to a million Starting from one I don't know how I'll get there But the journey will be fun If counting to a million Is a foolish thing to do, so be it 'Cause many things we do in life are like that Though we might not see it I'm counting to a million I'm counting to a million I'm counting to a million I'm counting to a million Taking my time No hurry or ambition No ladders to climb 'm counting to a million Starting from one I don't know how I'll get there But the journey will be fun I'm counting to a million I'm counting to a million I'm counting to a million

about

While most of my releases have been electronic or ambient, and definitely instrumental, this EP explores my singer-songwriter side, The songs are a varied lot that range from political to satirical to deeply personal, with one acoustic instrumental. I've never released these songs before because I'm hyper-critical of my voice. Part of this process was that I learned to accept myself - warts and all.

about

Thisbrucesmith Utah

I worked as a drummer in the 1970s and 80s in Dayton, Ohio doing rock, jazz and other gigs. After a long absence, I started doing stock music in the early 2010s. Most of my stuff is electronic or ambient, but what's here is a little out of my usual wheelhouse. ... more
